BURY remain rooted to the bottom of Lancashire (North) after crashing 20-0 at home to Ormskirk on Saturday.
The Radcliffe Road men, who have now lost all 10 of their league fixtures, had high hopes of turning their poor early-season form around against the fellow strugglers.
And although conditions were difficult, the ground was soft and playable as the rain continued to fall.
As the Rams struggled to become accustomed to the conditions, the visitors adapted well.
Early pressure on the home side told 10 minutes into the game when some poor man-to-man tackling allowed Ormskirk to run in the first converted try of the game.
With their sizeable forward, the visitors continued to pressurise the Bury pack, running the ball short and kicking tactically to gain territory and extended their advantage with a penalty to lead 10-0 at the break
Injuries to Ed Watkins and Alex English led to a reshuffle which disrupted the slight rhythm Bury had started to gain.
When the Rams did manage to get clean ball and look to go wide at times they looked dangerous with Dom Bennett coming in off the wing to make some decent breaks.
Ormskirk dominated throughout the second half and scored two further unconverted tries to claim a comprehensive victory.
The Rams play sixth-placed Orrell at Radcliffe Road on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
