COACH Geoff Roberts says Sedgley Tigers need to take advantage of home comforts when they get back to league action against struggling Huddersfield on Saturday.
The Tigers were left licking their wounds after succumbing to their second defeat of the season in the 10-9 reverse at Leicester Lions a fortnight ago –a result which saw them slip to second place in National League Two North, three points behind new leaders Macclesfield.
But following a weekend off, the Tigers now play three of their four matches this month at Park Lane, and Roberts believes this gives his side the perfect opportunity to regain top spot.
"We are in a nice position," he said.
"We play Huddersfield and Stourbridge in back-to-back home games, then we are away at Chester before hosting Sale at the end of the month.
"That's an advantage that Macclesfield had on us last month.
"They played two consecutive home games in October now we have three home games in November.
"They are only three points in front so we will be hoping they go somewhere and slip up while we pull off wins in all three to jump back into first place."
Despite two defeats in October, Roberts is pleased with the Tigers' efforts in the opening eight games of the campaign and is hoping for a title push ahead of the festive period.
"Three or four teams are already shaping up as title challengers," he said.
"It's probably around Christmas time when you get a better picture of how things are going and by then we will have been to Macclesfield."
With Rob Holloway and Mike Quickenden almost back to full fitness and with no fresh injury worries, Roberts is warning the Park Lane outfit against complacency ahead of the clash against third-from-bottom Huddersfield.
"We can't underestimate them," he said.
"They've certainly been strong at home and have beaten a few teams including Sandal, so I'm not sure how or why they are near the bottom.
"We've had a total week off with no training so the lads can recharge the batteries physically and mentality.
"Hopefully they will come back fit, buzzing and ready to go again."
