Bury 3 Old Bedians 0
With poor underfoot conditions and an arctic wind blowing downfield, the visitors played with the conditions in the first period.
Such was the condition of the pitch, this was never going to be a game for the purist, it really was a get down and dirty match punctuated by set scrums and knock-ons.
It was almost reminiscent of a medieval seige, with Bury holding the fort against a repeated battering of the Old Bedians pack.
The only opportunity for a try came in the 33rd minute when Bury skipper, Jonny Allen, was cleared in a break down the right-hand touchline but unfortunately he put a foot into touch and the effort went begging.
However, in what turned out to be the last kick of the match, Bury were awarded a penalty and Hindley elected to take the shot at goal.
The kick hit the crossbar, bounced vertically and wind-assisted went over for the winning points.
Bury’s next match in North Lancs Division Two is at Broughton on February 8, kick off 2.15pm.
