Bury have bolstered their squad with the additions of Connor Pye and Jack Dunn ahead of the upcoming season.

Pye, a 20-year-old full-back, arrives at Gigg Lane following his release by Sunderland earlier this summer.

He started out at Morecambe before heading to the North East in the summer of 2022, also spending time on loan at Northern Premier League outfit Morpeth Town.

“Connor is a very exciting player who is capable of covering multiple positions including left-back and both wings,” said manager Dave McNabb.

“He is technically excellent having come through the Academy set up at Morecambe before being bought by Sunderland in 2022.

“He has really impressed since coming in, especially considering he is returning from a long lay-off for a stress fracture in his back.

“I have no doubts that Connor will be a player who leaves us for full time football given time to develop and grow in the men’s game.”

Meanwhile, Dunn joins the Shakers after 18 months away from football due to an ACL injury while playing for Marine.

The 29-year-old winger began his career at Liverpool and had loan spells with Cheltenham, Burton, Morecambe and Tranmere. He also represented England at various youth levels.

Dunn then headed to Tranmere and has also had stints at Warrington Town, Widnes and Curzon Ashton.

He scored the winner in the 2022 play-off final as Marine secured promotion back to the NPL Premier Division.

Dunn got on the scoresheet in a 4-1 victory at Atherton Colls over the weekend after getting on the end of Will Calligan’s low cross.

Bebeto Gomes doubled the lead after another assist from Calligan before Max Bardsley-Rowe pulled one back for the hosts.

Alex Cherera wrapped up the result with a quickfire double in the final 15 minutes, his second goal coming after a good run by Lewis Earl.

McNabb's men are back in action tonight as they head to Nantwich Town (7.45pm). Tickets are priced at £9 for adults, £6 for over-60s and £1 for under-16s.
