RAMSBOTTOM United were forced to dig deep to progress to the first round proper of the FA Vase.
Both sides were reduced to shots from long range early on before the deadlock was broken on 38 minutes when a shot from Joel Pilkington was superbly saved by Sam Dobbs and the deflection found Barry Massey who scored from an acute angle.
The Wakefield side pressed hard towards the end and Rammy were holding on to the end, but hold on they did and they have booked themselves a FA Vase First Round Proper tie on October 3 — against old foes Bacup Borough.
United’s next match is on Tuesday when they entertain Nelson in the Lancashire FA Trophy, kick off 7.45pm.
