RADCLIFFE Borough coach Kevin Glendon is working overtime to bring a goalscoring striker to the club ahead of the big UniBond kick-off on August, 18.

Boro continued their pre-season campaign with a 0-0 draw against Conference North side Barrow on Tuesday night, and that was the third game in five that the side have not scored in this summer.

Boro, who scored just 39 goals in 42 league games last season, have Ian Fitzpatrick, Lee Hendley and Steve Howson on their books but Glendon is still searching for a 20-goal-a-season man.

"We think we need another two strikers," said Glendon. "Over the last two seasons we have struggled because we just haven't scored the weight of goals needed to be successful.

"It's hard to find the goalscorers that will make us more competitive, but I hope to have two new strikers at the club before we start the season."

Glendon has brought in former Burnley and Accrington midfielder Andy Waine but lost Lee Fitzpatrick and defender Stephen Hill.

Midfielder Fitzpatrick has left while Hill has signed for Conference North side Leigh RMI.

Glendon has confirmed that Tim Dittmer will be the only goalkeeper on the books after the departure of player-manager Andy Johnston.

Boro continue pre-season with a trip to Ashton United on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick-off).
