RADCLIFFE Borough caretaker boss Kevin Glendon wants his side to build on a morale-boosting home win against Prescot Cables in what is a hectic Christmas week of three games in eight days.

Boro won 1-0 at the weekend to end a run of six matches without victory, thanks to Tom Brooks’s strike at Stainton Park.

Next up on Saturday is a trip to Wakefield before back-to-back home games against Salford City and Garforth Town.

And while Glendon admits it is a testing time that will stretch resources, it is also a chance to pick up points in a short space of time.

He said: “The lads played very well last week and we needed the three points; it was a must-win game really after the run we had been on.

“We had chances to make life easier but didn’t take them and that made it tense at the end.

“But that can be the way it goes when you are desperate to get a result.

“We kept a clean sheet which was good for us as well.

“Now we have to try and build on that at Wakefield and against Salford and Garforth.

“The Salford game is one of two derbies we have over the holiday period and they always great occasions.”

Boro go into the weekend monitoring a handful of injury concerns with Danny Hudson picking up a knock in the Prescot win and Laquan Esdaille also struggling.

Odilon Koubemba is expected to be out for at least another fortnight but skipper Mark Jones and Shaun Connor had no reaction after their returns and should be okay to figure again.

The club are also close to adding two more players from another link-up with a Football League club similar to their recent partnership with Huddersfield Town.

It is pleasing news for Glendon who is now hoping the winter chill holds off so Boro can get both home games played.

He added: “We usually get a good crowd for the Salford game and hopefully the weather will be good for that and the Garforth one.

“It was good to get last weekend’s game on because it hits you hard when games get postponed with regards to revenue.

“It is hard enough without losing the income on a Saturday.”

Fans are reminded the Boxing day fixture against Salford City kicks off at noon.
