Elton and Walshaw Panthers won a hard-fought game against Little Lever Tigers to win the North Bury JFC Under-10s League (Roach Section) with one game to spare.
The 5-1 victory sparked a unique celebration when Panthers manager Toby Partington produced 11 doughnuts from the kit bag. “Well we can’t give them champagne,” explained Toby as his team showered him and assistant manager Paul Mayor with fizzy drinks.
Needing three points to win the title, the Panthers made a nervy start away to a spirited Little Lever Sports Club.
Midway in the first half, the excellent Adam Partington began to dictate play and, with Daniel Slater making some sizzling runs down the right, the Panthers opened up a 2-0 half-time lead.
The Panthers moved up a gear in the second half and claimed victory and the title.
