A BRILLIANT strike by Tino Blake five minutes from time saw Bury Amateurs complete the double over Manchester League Premier Division leaders Avro.
The Radcliffe-based men staged a resilient rearguard action in the second half to keep the reigning champions at bay.
Avro took the lead after 15 minutes and Ammies were dealt a further blow when they lost centre half Andy Kennedy with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.
Ammies regrouped and began to gain a foothold in the game. Lee Bruce fired tamely wide from a good position before the visitors equalised following a flowing move.
Sam Smith fed Steve Simms on the right, and his pinpoint cross was swept home by Olly Clarke at the far post.
Avro stepped up a gear after the break and Ammies held firm with Rick Young and Andy Kennedy outstanding at the back.
And their counter attacking tactics paid off when they got the decisive goal.
Craig Thomas and Simms exchanged passes and Bruce squared the ball to Blake, who showed outstanding technique to beat the keeper from the edge of the box.
The victory moved Ammies up to eighth and extended their impressive recent record to two defeats in 16 games.
