Walshaw finally got the better of lowly Hindsford after conceding two goals in the first five minutes.

As the half wore on they clawed their way back into the match and, after Russ Brierley had one penalty appeal waved away, Lee Gaskell was blocked off in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Brierley saw his first effort saved but followed up to halve the deficit.

The second period saw Walshaw camp in the visitors half and they equalised on the hour when the excellent Rob Pilling pulled the ball back to give Lee Chapman an easy tap in.

Substitute Tom Melia set up Richard Woodward for the third and the clinching fourth was Woodward’s own work as he cut inside the defender to make the points safe.

Walshaw, who kept up the pressure on the title-chasers with a 4-1 victory over Stockport Georgians at Radcliffe Borough on Tuesday, have a tough game at Springhead on Saturday, kick off 2pm.

The reserves have a possible title decider against long time league leaders Dukinfield at Manchester Road, kick off 2pm.
