BURY GSOB’s eight game unbeaten run in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division ended in disappointing fashion as their lacklustre performance allowed Howe Bridge to take full advantage and claim all three points.
Howe Bridge went in 1-0 up at half time after Bury allowed their opponents’ striker time to control, turn and shoot from long range, midway through the half. Bury failed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and lacked conviction in the final third. It was a goal out of nothing that got them back in the game, a fast-paced cross from Jordan Fitton allowed centre-half Christian Farnworth to bullet header the equaliser after he found space in the 18 yard box. It was poor defending from Bury which allowed Howe Bridge to grab the winner. An uncleared corner fell casually into the danger area and the ball was hammered home from close range. Bury did rally in the final minutes but some some good defending them at bay.
Next up for the Grammar School Old Boys is Water in the LFA cup at Buckley Wells on Saturday, kick-off 1.30pm.
