Woodbank Whites under-10s are sporting a new football strip thanks to Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in Bury, who have agreed to sponsor the cost of shirts, socks and shorts for the boys.
The team, which was set up by Paul Bamford and Simon Nicholas in 2011, plays their home games at Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom, and is in the Kay Division of the North Bury Junior Football League.
Parents pay a small subscription fee that pays for the use and maintenance of Nuttall Park, match day equipment and the hire of winter training facilities, but unfortunately that “leave us with the onus task of equipping the boys with all the kit they need, which incidentally does not come cheap,” said Simon.
“I approached Frankie & Benny’s about the possibility of them sponsoring our match kit for a two-year period. I can thankfully say they were more than happy to support us and made, what is usually quite a difficult task, very easy and for which we are enormously grateful.”
Whilst at the Bury the Rock diner, the team was treated to free pizza and signed a shirt to be displayed in the restaurant.
“F&B love to support local communities and local sports activities. Woodbank Whites is a fantastic local team who needed some support, and we were happy to help,” said F&B’s Jacqueline Fletcher. Woodbank Whites train on a Wednesday evening at Playfootball in Bury town centre and Simon says: “The players love the game and the team spirit that comes with it.”
