IF Elton’s unbeaten record in the Premier Division of the FBT Manchester League was to go, it was not anticipated in this match.
Elton’s Marvin Browne attempted an inch perfect lob in the opening stages that keeper Broxson diverted with an acrobatic leap. Mark Sandham was also denied a penalty after being brought down, and Browne hit the post from 20 yards. Beechfield were in turn denied, seemingly converting a corner, but the goal was ruled out by the referee.
Beechfield scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half as the home sides’ defence was stretched, but then had their centre back sent off on the hour. Gareth Gardiner converted the resulting free kick, but it was the visitors who grabbed the third and final goal.
