ON a windy afternoon at Cams Lane, Bury ran in four goals in the first 30 minutes as they completed the FBT Manchester League Division One double over their opponents.
Bury were looking to bounce back after defeat to Elton two weeks ago and did so in great style. Bury knocked the ball around on the perfect Cams Lane playing surface and were rewarded when captain Mike Hoggard scored from close range after five minutes.
The early goal gave Bury the confidence to play some of their best football so far this season, and three more goals quickly followed as Danny Murray scored twice and Hoggard doubled his tally.
However, Bury were guilty of wasting chances and the half ended with the home side four goals to the good. With the wind advantage in the second half, Bury were maybe guilty of thinking it could end up a cricket scoreline.
Wilmslow gave as good as they got and were on the scoresheet when Bobby Finch knocked in a harmless cross for an own goal.
With five minutes left, Andy Morrissey scored Bury's fifth with a cool finish to keep Bury up with the leaders in a tight division. On Saturday, Bury travel to Breighmet United and kick off is 2pm.
