Ramsbottom A maintained their lead at the top of the Bury and District Table Tennis League First Division, showing title-winning form to beat Prestwich C 9-1.
Andy and Keith Jackson scored trebles for Ramsbottom, while Lee Devenport earned Prestwich C’s solitary point.
A tough week for Prestwich C got worse as they lost a rearranged match with second-placed Radcliffe Cricket Club in a whitewash.
Rob Hall, Phil Briggs and Mick Dore were the unbeaten players for Radcliffe, who remain 13 points behind Ramsbottom A.
Prestwich A regained a bit of pride for the club, beating their B team 7-3. Unusually all the players won at least one set. Peadar McKinstry, Colin Boardman and Dave Cheetham each won two for the A team, while Andy Evans, Bryan Beer and Dave Bolton won one each for the B team.
Maccabi A continued their good form to head Division Two, beating an understrength ELPM A 8-2 at home. Dean Clyne and Stuart Landes were unbeaten for the home side.
Carlton Vale won 6-4 at Holmar A, with Chris Sutcliffe starring for the visitors.
SP Carlton beat Elton Vale Sports Club A 7-3 at home. Dave Holden won his three for SP Carlton, while Tommy Ryan won two but was beaten by Graham Daniels at nine in the fourth to put him just behind David Poytress in the Top Ten race.
Carlton Club B beat Prestwich E 6-4 at home, with Mark Reading scoring a treble.
In Division Three, Seedfield B gave their C team a harsh lesson, handing out a 10-0 whitewash. Mike Charlton, Alan Telfer and Ian Boyle all scored trebles.
ELPM B beat Elton Vale Sports Club B 8-2 at home. Carol Mitchell won three, putting her one ahead of team mate Steve in the Top Ten race but tied with Jim Hewitt of Hilton YMCA, who is top by virtue of his better percentage.
Jim won his three this week in Hilton’s 10-0 win at Maccabi C. Bob Bent and Mark Speakman were the other two unbeaten Hilton players.
Carlton Club C drew at home to Ramsbottom Town B. John Bostock was unbeaten for Carlton.
Maccabi B won 7-3 at Shawfield A. Melvyn Leven and Robert Clayton were unbeaten for Maccabi.
In Division Four, second-placed Shawfield C beat top of the table Prestwich F 6-4 at home.
Ashley Ingham was unbeaten for Shawfield.
Barry Warburton’s three wins for Bury Grammar School Old Boys A helped his team to a 5-5 draw at home to Maccabi D. Sheldon Lee and Daniel Sheldon each won two for the visitors. Maccabi F won 6-4 at Prestwich G, despite Bob Goodman winning his three for the home side.
Holmar B beat Shawfield D 8-2 at home. John Millington and Trevor Candler were unbeaten for Holmar.
Shawfield E beat Ramsbottom Table Tennis Academy 9-1 at home to show why they are well clear at the top of Division Five. James Collier continues to top the averages after winning his three for Shawfield, as did Lauren Brassington.
Seedfield D dominated their E team, winning 10-0.
Holmar D overwhelmed their E team, winning 9-1. David Bell and Alan Fletcher each scored trebles.
Bury Grammar School Old Boys B beat Shawfield F 8-2 at home, with John Greenhalgh winning three.
Wardle beat ELPM D 7-3 at home. David Watts and Jack Grattan were the unbeaten players for the home team.
Maccabi G beat Shawfield G 7-3 at home. Ashley Landes and Adam Gilman scored trebles for Maccabi.
