Ramsbottom Town A strengthened their hold on top spot in Division One of the Bury and District Table Tennis League when they beat Burning Desire 8-2.
Martin Whyatt trebled for the leaders who are now nine points ahead of Radcliffe Cricket Club, who won 7-3 at Prestwich A thanks to trebles from Jim Chadwick and Rob Hall.
Division Two leaders SP Carlton overwhelmed bottom club Holmar A 9-1 – Phil Wardle saving the visitors from a whitewash when he beat Tommy Ryan in the first set of the night. John Biggins and Dave Holden were unbeaten for Carlton, who are three points ahead of second placed Seedfield A, who were held to a 5-5 draw at Prestwich D.
