MACCABI D and the juniors of Shawfield G were the giant-killers as the league paused for the Dwyer and Sponsor Cup action.
Division Four’s Maccabi overcame Seedfield B from the league above 501-487, thanks to fine display by Aubrey Huller who beat Peter Ingham 36-33 to send the Prestwich side through.
There was a similar fairytale for the youngsters of Division Five’s Shawfield, who prevailed at the expense of Prestwich D.
The Division Two side chipped away at their 252-point handicap but Michael Eaton, Sam Burgoyne and James Aadahl emerged victorious.
The outcome of Holmar B’s tie with their Division Five club-mates in the D team went more according to form as the Division Four outfit overturned an 82-point start.
Division Two’s Prestwich E went through in their match with Division Five opposition, but Wardle Conservative Club pushed them all the way with Prestwich’s winning margin only two points.
In the all-Division One clash between Little Lever and eventual winners Carlton Club A, the final set between Steve McNicholas and Ian Quinn, who won by 11 points, proved decisive.
