RAMSBOTTOM A returned to normal service in the Bury Table Tennis League following their recent defeat as they recorded a 7-3 victory over Prestwich B.
It was not all plain sailing for the Division One leaders as Andrew Evans managed three wins in his first match of the season for Prestwich.
Second placed Radcliffe CC closed the gap to nine points thanks to a 9-1 victory over Burning Desire.
Bottom two Seedfield A and Prestwich C both lost 8-2.
Basement club Seedfield are now 12 points from safety in their fight to avoid relegation.
Gabriel Wilding posted both Prestwich C's wins in their defeat to third placed Carlton A.
In Division Two, second-placed Prestwich E were 7-3 victors over table toppers Coburg, which closes the gap to two points.
Star of the show was George Jones with three wins, ably backed up by team mates Joe Redikin and Steve Hathaway, who enjoyed two wins each.
The three teams below the top two – Carlton B, ELPM A and Midges A – all won 7-3 against lowly opposition. The Polish Club came out on top in their mid-table clash with Maccabi A, winning an even match 6-4.
Seedfield A moved to the top of Division Three following a 9-1 victory over Prestwich G.
Dave Fletcher won his three matches to help Holmar A to a 7-3 win against Maccabi D.
Seedfield D won by the maximum score against Shawfield E in Division Four.
Second placed Shawfield C beat their D team 7-3 with another three wins from Wayne Ellis.
Both Holmar teams drew 5-5 after coming up against star performers, with Maccabi E's Peter Cantor and Wardle's Jack Gratton defying them with three victories apiece.
In Division Five, the second and third-placed teams kept up the pressure on leaders Seedfield E with 9-1 victories. Seedfield only managed a 7-3 victory, with surprisingly Mike Ollerton failing to record any wins. These three teams are now separated by nine points at the top, with fourth-placed Wardle – who managed a 7-3 win over Holmar D – 13 points behind.
