RADCLIFFE St Mary’s returned to the top of Bury and District Open Snooker League’s C Section thanks to a close 6-3 win at Seedfield B.
The frames were shared, but St Mary’s took the aggregate by four chalks as a result of Paul Frankland’s opening-frame 62-31 win.
Tottington A slipped up at Walshaw as the home side took the match 6-2. Paul Taylor had a fine night, winning his frame 97-56 including breaks of 33 and 26. Tottington B moved into second place by beating Whitefield BC 6-2.
Huntley B had a comfortable win at Bury Bridge with Colin Baggot getting proceedings off to a fine start for Huntley with a 82-18 success in the first frame of the evening.
The top of the A Section has tightened up with both the top two teams failing to record a win. Tottington D lost at home to Buchanans A although many of the frames were close, while Elton Lib B closed the gap on the top two after beating current table-toppers Bury Snooker D away, 7-2. Elton Lib A recorded an excellent 6-2 win at home to Radcliffe Central A, Steve Anderson finishing proceedings with a fine 110-22 victory.
Salisbury Con showed they can win away as well as at home by going to Fishpool and taking the match 7-2. The match was much closer than the scoreline suggested as Gary Wright potted a long black to secure his frame and the aggregate by just five chalks. Whitefield B hosted Bury Snooker B and the spoils were shared 4-4. Tony Greenhalgh and Zac Gilbert both won well for Whitefield to give them the aggregate points.
In the B Section, Elton Lib C continue to lead and carried on their fine form with a 6-2 win at home to Radcliffe Central C. Alan Brooks won 98-63, including a 35 break.
Seedfield BC A enjoyed an excellent result at Radcliffe Central D, taking the match 8-1, although the frames were closely fought.
Stanley Con stretched their unbeaten run to four games after just securing the points at home to Bury Snooker C. Stanley Con won the match on a final frame black ball despite Mark Burns’s valiant 80-41 win for the visitors.
Elton Lib D beat Buchanans B 6-3 with Brian Skelley recording the biggest win on the night, 63-38. Buchanans will be pleased with the three points as all their frame wins were very tight. Huntley C enjoyed a comfortable win at home to Whitefield Snooker A. Daz Harrison opening proceedings with a fine a 88-45 victory, including a 40 break.
There is a delegates’ meeting tonight, at Bury Bridge WMC, starting at 8pm.
