ELTON Lib D are top of B Section of Bury Snooker League after winning 6-3 at Whitefield A.
It was a close game with the frames shared but Phil Wolfenden won 84-35 to secure the aggregate. Elton Lib C are second after a comfortable 7-1 win at home to Huntley C.
It was a real off night for Huntley as Anthony Milne and Steve Platt both recorded big wins.
Radcliffe Central C hosted Bury Snooker C and it was the visitors who sneaked the win 6-3, with all the frames closely contested and it took the final-frame black to secure the win.
Seedfield A hosted Stanley and took the match 6-2 and, once again, most of the frames were close. Derek Gallagher got the biggest win, 56-25.
Buchanans B recorded their first home win of the season, beating Radcliffe Central D 7-1. Ged French (64-32) put in a fine display, setting them on the way to that elusive win.
Radcliffe Central B are top of C Section, despite Bury Bridge pushing them all the way.
Radcliffe came away 7-2 winners with all the frames close from start to finish. At Whitefield BC, Harry Wilkinson recorded the biggest win of the night, 60-33.
However, this was Whitefield’s only success as Seedfield B took the other five tight frames to run out 8-1 victors despite taking the aggregate by only 21 points.
Tottington A won 7-2 at Huntley B, Robert Capron winning the fifth frame 85-12. That proved decisive in securing the aggregate, despite Chris Beck’s effort taking the final frame 95-54.
Tottington B were pushed all the way by local rivals Walshaw. The match was in the balance until the final black which Peter Woroniak duly potted to secure a 5-3 home win for Tottington.
In the A Section Tottington D recovered from last week’s blip to win at Fishpool, 8-1.
Ian Brearley produced the performance of the night winning his frame 111-27.
Radcliffe Central A are in second and maintain the pressure after a comfortable 7-1 win at home to Whitefield Snooker B. Daniel Tiddy produced a fine frame to record a big win 105-41.
Huntley A just shaded hosts Bury Snooker D, 5-4 the home side taking four frames in a tight match, but Phil Jones secured the aggregate on the final black to take the vital three aggregate points.
Bury Snooker B entertained Elton Lib B and it was the visitors who went away the happier winning 7-2. James Kay opened proceedings with an exhibition of fine snooker taking the frame 120-76 with breaks of 44 and 28.
Mick Hamer produced a similar performance for Buchans A with breaks of 40 and 31, but this was not enough to take the frame. However, this turned out to be their only defeat of the night as they beat Elton A 8-1.
All delegates should note the next meeting is next Thursday, starting at 8pm at Bury Bridge WMC.
