BURY’S Interleague side fell to their fourth consecutive defeat to Bolton when the two senior teams met at Darcy Lever on Friday.
The home side were always in control after posting a first innings total of 67 and eventually took the honours 139-83.
Bury had their chances early on after getting rid of Bolton’s first eight batters by the end of the fifth round.
But Vickie Hill, Julie Bluer and Rachael Price proved more stubborn and all reached double figures.
Hill was out on her seventh bat for 10, while Bluer followed suit after contributing 11.
Price – the top scorer with 16 – hit the only rounder of the innings in a final flourish before being denned.
Some superb Bolton fielding removed 10 Bury batters in the first four rounds of their opening innings, leaving top scorer Wendy Kelly with an impossible task.
Having scored three threes and a one, she was denned after her final single for 11 and a team total of 37.
Trailing by 30, Bury again enjoyed early success in Bolton’s second innings, getting rid of six batters cheaply.
But Price and Bluer managed to stick around, along with Kerry Anderton, Julie McCann and substitute Lisa Latona, to steady the Bolton nerves.
Bluer was caught out for nine then McCann for six, but Latona scored two rounders in her 14 and Price was again last batter, scoring 15.
Anderton finished top scorer, however, hitting a rounder in her 18, as Bolton made it to 72.
Bury were left needing more than 100 runs for victory, and they picked up some decent early points, but were five down at the end of the second round.
Kath Bond and Sarah Davenport held firm until the fifth round, when they were out for six and eight respectively.
Cheryl Greenwood was the last to be denned, scoring a rounder in her 12 points as Bury hit 46 to finish 56 short.
The “Golden Girls” Interleague match against Bolton will be played at Darcy Lever CC on Sunday from 11am.
Return legs of the Interleague matches start next Friday.
All will take place at Elton Vale SC on the following dates: Veterans June 26, Juniors July 5, Intermediates July 12, Seniors July 19, Golden Girls July 28.
