BURY Billiards League have secured a sponsorship deal with Lancashire Trade Frame Ltd. The agreement will enable the league to proceed with the plans to host an exhibition match at the end of the season featuring current British number one David Causier.
The league are also refurbishing the Orme Shield and plan to replace some of the existing league trophies. Bury Snooker Club extended their advantage at the top of the league with another win, this time at the expense of their nearest rivals, Elton Liberal Club B.
Jack McLaughlin set them on their way and recorded two breaks (35 and 40). Ray Brooks reduced the lead in the second game following a fine win over J Fletcher. But Dale Jones secured the points with a good win in the final game. Norman’s Snooker Club moved back up to second place with a 5-0 whitewash of Seedfield Bowling Club and Dobbies S&SC move back to third. At the bottom, Walmersley Con Club recorded a win to reduce the gap, but still continue to prop up the rest of the league. Breaks over 30: J McLaughlin 35 and 40.
