WITH an autumnal feel to the weather and the promise of heavy rain later in the day, our A Section opted for a short ride to Roughlee on Sunday.
Main roads were followed to Nelson and Barrowford where we turned on to Pasture Lane and a sharp climb and a fast descent into the hidden valley and Roughlee.
Steve opted to climb out of the valley again for pie and peas at Noggarth Top before joining the rest in the Clarion club house on Jinny Lane.
Back on the road, the steep climb to Newchurch-in-Pendle was tackled and a brief stop was taken to photograph the witches outside the Witches Galore souvenir shop.
Taking the ridge road to Sabden Heights we made a steep descent to Simonstone where main roads were joined once more and followed through Accrington and back to Bury, which was reached just as the rain started. The B section had a short ride to Rivington.
Runs for Sunday: Meet Wilkinson's, The Rock - A: Marsden 9am; B: Delph, 9.30am.

Bob Duckworth has had two successful weeks in a row at the Velodrome Track Leagues.
On Friday he came second in the Devil Takes The Hindmost, up a position from the previous week, and first in the 16 lap points race. He clocked up his points by taking third, second and first places in the sprints respectively.
In the previous week's race he managed third place by attacking from the top of the banking.
The previous Monday's league saw Adam Yates steam to first in the points race, with Martin Wolfinden taking third. Adam managed second in the Scratch race & Devil.
Bob and Martin competed in Eastland Velo's Cyclocross event at Manchester last weekend. Martin won the under 14s event by a handsome margin, but Bob, did not do as well.
Both Bob and grandson James rode in the Cyclocross race in Radcliffe the previous Saturday.
James finished eighth in the under 14s, his grandad failed to finish after taking a tumble over the handlebars.
Vince Eastwood and Steve Hepworth took to their mountain bikes last Sunday for a local ride to Holcombe & up to Rawtenstall.
The off-road jaunt quickly became a mudfest as the rain came down on the already saturated countryside, making the going slippery.
Despite a couple of spectacular acrobatic falls they made it back.
