BURY & DISTRICT OPEN SNOOKER LEAGUE
HUNTLEY D top the table in the Bury Bed Centre C Section after running out 6-2 winners at home to Totty B.
Antony Harrison gave them a great start, taking the opening frame 72-29; although this was surpassed when Martin Seedall won the second, 104-15. Neil Rigby secured Tottington s first win in the fourth frame, 128-48. The final two frames were both keenly contested, and shared by the teams.
Totty A fared only a little better at home to Stanley B although in this match the frames were shared. Dennis Lomas 76-38 in the second frame, eventually proved the main difference between the sides, to give the visitors a 6-3 scoreline.
A clean sweep at dominoes gave the visitors the Fork Lift Training Roll Up prize. Whitefield Snooker B made it a hat trick of defeats in this section for the village club, in a match that seemed even closer than the scorecard suggested. G Shotton's 71-47 frame for the home side proved crucial.
Carl Mason is attracting the attention of the handicapper. His 83-23 frame ensured a 5-3 home win for Radcliffe Central A over Huntley B. Earlier, Andy Bates had compiled a 27 break in his opening frame win.
Bury Bridge won their first match of this campaign, thanks mainly to a generally fine performance by Wayne Usher, 84-29. Maurice Ryder swept back for St Marys, 87-38, but the Bridge hung on to take the match by five chalks.
In contrast to their C Section colleagues, Totty D have started their season in fine style. A 7-1 success over Huntley A made it three out of three. John Allen, 96-26, and Ian Brearley, whose 93-39 included breaks of 33 and 26, were the star performers for the home side.
Heywood Reform were the visitors at Elton Lib D, and came away 7-2 victors. Best show came from Danny Bleackley, who compiled breaks of 39 and 31 in his 124-41 frame win.
Elton Fold may be a little closer to top spot, if their missing card ever surfaces. Wayne Goodwin gave them a flying start, taking the opening frame 71-38, while a 25 clearance helped Simon Fitzsimmons clinch the third frame.
Huntley C opened their account, 6-2 at home to Rad Central B. Brian and Tony Walsh were Central's chief tormentors.
Bury Snooker C remain unbeaten, after a close match at home to Walshaw A. Billy Whizz gave the visitors a great start, 86-45, and the visitors took three of the first four frames as Mrs Davis's boys won.
