the National Fishing Month takes place between August 20 and 27, with more than 100 events already listed online at the new website www.national fishingmonth.com.
Pilsworth fisheries (Heywood): There are four open matches during the week – Monday on the bottom pond, draw 5pm, Wednesday on the match pond, draw 5pm, Tuesday and Sunday on the match pond, draw 10am. Water bailiff Eric Taylor wil give out rules on arrival.
Results: Monday: 1 Grenville Walker 34lb, 2 John Glover 26lb. Wednesday: 1 John Dolan 49lb, 2 John Vernon 17lb. Sunday: 1 Grenville Walker 39lb, 2 Roy Gough 24lb12oz.
All three sets of lodges continue to produce good catches.
Unsworth (Unsworth Angling Club): Tench, bream and carp are taking well on the top lodge and the cut is fishing better every week. Ticket or membership is still possible on the day by asking the water bailiff.
Burrs Country Park Lodges: There have been big hauls of roach and bream – quite a few at 12lb to 15lb.
Results: G & N Autoco Trophy, Hambleton. 15 pegs fished, with the son narrowly beating his dad. 1 Aron Wright 34lb, 2 Gary Wright 33lb, 3 Bill Cuddy 28lb.
