Bury romped to a 7-2 victory over Fylde in the North West Federation Advanced League at Heaton Park on Sunday. Captain Matt Holmes won all of his games, conceding only seven hoops over the entire day and made eight peels over three games.

Paul Kenworthy won two out of three, trouncing Fylde’s star-man Hartley by 25 hoops. Paul Rigge also won two out of three. Play was positive and efficient with only one game going to time.

Fylde were fighting for pride in the last round of games facing a potential 9-0 whitewash.

Rigge eventually succumbed to Hartley who made a near triple peel but then missed the fairly long peg out.

Fylde’s P Wilson also missed a long peg out against Kenworthy but accidentally pegged out his other ball and was forced to play with just a single ball. Kenworthy fought back but he too missed a long peg out and decided to leave his balls together to finish next turn.

Wilson hit one of his balls from 25 yards to steal victory. In the last, Holmes made short shrift of beating L Wilson, completing a near triple peel but failed an audacious promotion peg out. Two bonus league points mean Bury currently sit top of the table.
