BURY’S Kathryn Fudge has been included in the final 14 for the Great Britain handball squad for the London Olympics.
The 22-year-old former Tottington High School girl kept her place in the British team when it was slimmed down from 22 players at the weekend.
Elton girl Fudge was playing in Denmark and Norway after leaving Holy Cross College, but has been with the British squad undergoing intensive training at Crystal Palace during the last few months.
The British team does not have a world ranking, but qualifies for the Olympics as the host nation.
Fudge’s older sister Justine Duxbury said the left back in the seven-a-side team was delighted to have been picked.
“This is what Kathryn Has been building up to since she went to Scandanavia after leaving college,” she said. “Her family are absolutely delighted that she will be part of London 2012.”
