HOT prospect David Worrall is eager to get back to Bury for pre-season training after putting the speculation linking him with a big money move behind him.

The 22-year-old winger was being touted for a £1million transfer out of Gigg Lane after putting in a string of impressive performances at the tail end of last season.

But with no bids forthcoming during the close season, the former West Brom midfielder is eager to repay the faith put in him by Shakers boss Richie Baker.

“I’ve still got another two years left on my contract and I’m happy here,” said Worrall.

“I’m happy playing for the gaffer, I’ve really enjoyed it. At the end of last season he put his trust in me and he got the most out of me.”

The Bury squad are due to report back to Gigg Lane next Wednesday, and Worrall is expecting a tough test as the Shakers bid to come through the “tricky second season” in League One.

“We should know what to expect this time, but it’s new teams and football can work in strange ways,” said Worrall.

“It could be totally different so we’ve just got to take everything as it comes and try to get points as quickly as we can.”

Bury open their League One campaign at home to Brentford on Saturday, August 18.
