BURY Jaguars youngsters Rebecca Loonan and Rachel Bailey starred in the Greater Manchester County Under-13s which became Northern champions following a round robin showdown with North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Durham.
Loonan was later named as the coach Sharon Dudley’s player of the year while Bailey was voted players’ player of the year after the success.
The duo also helped the Jaguars u13s to a fourth-place finish in the Manchester Junior League while hockey-mad Loonan also featured for St Monica’s RC High School, Prestwich, who have won the Catholic Cup to add to the League and Bury Cups they won last season.
Fellow Jaguar Katherine Somerville has been selected as goalkeeper for England’s under-16s squad.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars have returned to their base at Castlebrook High School and are appealing for more players to join the ranks of their u11s, u13s and u15s teams.
Training takes place on Friday evenings. Anyone interested should contact the club mobile on 07522 926709.
