BURY Broncos ended their three-game losing streak with a hard-fought 18-12 victory over Crosfields A on Saturday.

Tries from Chris Radford, Blake Roberts, Joe Connor and Richard West saw the visitors come away from Warrington with the points.

The Broncos defence had tightened up from the previous week’s game at Portico Vine, but Crosfields opened the scoring after 15 minutes.

Bury drew level 10 minutes later when Radford made a powerful barge from dummy-half to level.

If the Broncos’ first try was about power the second was about skill.

An offload from prop-forward Si Palin was passed through several pairs of hands before Roberts raced away to put his side ahead.

Bury extended their lead t10 minutes into the second half when second- row Connor burst through under the sticks. Roberts added his first conversion to give the Broncos a ten-point advantage. Crosfields hit back with two quick tries and could have led but both conversion attempts hit the uprights.

With seven minutes left, a shuddering hit from two defenders saw the ball fall to Bury centre West who sprinted clear from 30 metres to provide a six-point advantage.

Bury host Hindley A at 2.30pm on Saturday, with the seconds taking on Hindley B beforehand.
