THE daughter of former Bury Times angling correspondent, the late Bill Turner, has appealed to local fishing enthusiasts to stop contacting the family.
Former Bury and District Angling Society secretary Mr Turner, who wrote angling notes for the BT for 30 years until 1979, died aged 78, in January, but because he was so well known in fishing circles and his name and telephone details are on so many websites, the family are still receiving calls for him.
Daughter Suzanne said: “We understand that people may not know that he has passed on, but repeatedly receiving calls for him is very distressing.”Anyone with enquiries relating to the Society should contact current secretary Darren Cooper on 07980 123860, or chairman Mike Tod on 0161764 1250.
