Gigg Lane or Maceys (Bury) day ticket: Top lodge has been a little slow some good catches of rudd, bream, dace, tench, carp and chub are available early in the day. In the bottom lodge there is a grand slam tournament every Tuesday evening. Entry is £12, 5pm draw pegs which includes bait peg and a per centage to prize. There are seven matches remaining so it is not too late to have a go. Competitors must fish six to qualify for the finals. Last Tuesday’s leg was won by Barry Halliwell (24lbs).

Pilsworth Fisheries (Heywood) day ticket: This is a well maintained set of lodges for the professionals or the enthusiastic amateur. The top lodge is for matches and details are available from the bailiff on arrival. There are carp, roach, perch, bream and tench on all lodges with much larger fish in middle lodge. This week saw a 32lb, 25lb and 23lbs mirror carp single fish.

Open match third Sunday results: 1 Tony Heslop 22.2lb, 2 John Allen 21.8lb, 3 Greville Walker 15.1lb, 4 Kevin Crowshaw 11.4lbs.

Unsworth (Unsworth Angling Club) day ticket: Both the top lodge and the cut will provide excellent fishing with carp, bream, tench, roach, perch and rudd. The bonus is either day ticket or membership which is £20 for year.

Elton reservoir (Bury) day ticket: This is a beautiful venue that has had an empty and restock not too long ago. Fishing is difficult at the moment, but the more persistent can be rewarded. With a little more time it will flourish.

Field Lodge (Bury): Bury and District anglers had a match on Sunday and it proved to be hard work. The results: 1 Laurence Whittle 1lb10, 2 Brian Rigby 1lb 61/2oz. 3 Gordon Ashworth 1lb 6oz.
