BURY Juniors have avenged the crushing defeat suffered by their Over-45s team in their interleague clash with Bolton with a 290-196 win The Bury veterans were beaten 282 (I)-151 in their outing at Walkden Cricket Club, as Bolton racked up a remarkable first innings total of 282 which left the visitors shell-shocked.

Bury were dismissed for 47 despite A Lyon hitting a rounder and good contributions from Sharon Warren, Margaret McDougall and Kath Bentley.

The visitors’ second innings was more fruitful as they batted their way to 104 with rounders from B Barber, Lyon and two on the bounce from Lyn Walker.

The Juniors, however, showed Bury were not in mood to lie down when they trailed 95-85 on the first innings at Bolton Cricket Club.

Although Bolton started the second innings with a 10-run lead, the Bury girls had other ideas. Deanna McDougall was cuaght out from the first ball, but Watson responded with a three followed by Chloe Evans’ rounder.

That was followed by five players scoring ones, two hitting twos, and Lauren Bond making up for failing to score in the first innings by hitting the first of her two rounders.

Top scorer Evans finished with 32 including three rounders and last batter Emma Cassidy, who had scored 12 ones and a two, finished spectacularly with three, two sixes and a two before being out for 31.
