WALMER Men’s A squad stretched their lead at the top of Division Two of Bolton Tennis League with an emphatic home win against Tyldesley A 8.5-0.5.

The duos of Jay Hardy and Ryan Tierney, and Adam Goodie and Paul Biggins each won three sets convincingly, while Mike Davies and Rhys Taylor conceded just a half set.

In Division Four, Walmer B visited Ellesmere C and competed in a hard match before emerging victors by 6-3.

None of Walmer’'s pairs managed a clean sweep but Rick Morley and Phil Mansfield won sets by 6-3 7-5 and drew their third.

Dave Gerrard and Steve Routledge scored 6-2 6-3 1-6 followed by Andy Parton and Stu Hardy, who scored 6-6 6-3 2-6. The victory kept Walmer in second spot in the table.

Walmer C entertained Markland Hill D at Mosley Avenue and a top performance from skipper Stu Donaldson and Raj Rahman, winning three sets by 6-1, led the way. Wyn Lees and Nico Renzuli won 6-4 6-3 6-2 and then Julian Nuttall and Luke Blackburn added 3-6 1-6 6-3 sets for Walmer to win by 7-2 and maintain their lead at the top of Division Six.

Walmer D were away at Lostock E where they fought out a close match before losing by 5-4 to remain in mid-table in Division Seven. The mixed A team are currently third in Division Two and their win at Hawkshaw B kept them in contention.

They enjoyed a good start with wins for Hardy and Lisa Morley, 6-4, Goodie and Dianne Hardman, 6-2, and Phil Mansfield and Hattie Morley, 6-4.

The ladies extended the lead when Gail Blackburn and Lisa Morley won 6-2 6-3 and Hardman and Morley scored 6-1 5-6. For the men, Goodie and Hardy won 6-1 6-1, and Morley and Mansfield had 6-1 5-6 sets to add to Walmer's 69-41 win. The mixed B team won narrowly at David Lloyd (Bolton) and remain in mid-table in Division Three, while the Mixed C team lost 32-69 in Division Five at Bradshaw C.
