BROOKSBOTTOM captain Paul Hopton is confident his side can enjoy a strong season following their six-wicket win against Manchester Association Division One rivals Westleigh on Saturday.
Tight bowling from all rounder Zeb Quereshi helped restrict the visitors to 135-8 when they batted first.
Hopton’s men saw the clouds overhead and decided to step on the gas and reached 136 for the loss of four wickets in just 16 overs. Professional Allan Armer hit 45 and Quereshi 38 while Hopton and Oliver Hawley both got 25.
“We could see it was going to rain and we got a bit carried away,” said Hopton.
“It was nice to finish the game off quickly, but we were helped by some excellent bowling from Zeb who tied them down.”
The Summerseat club will be hoping to build on their success when they travel to Bolton on Saturday.
