BURY ABC boxers have enjoyed a 100 per cent success rate from their series of bouts over a busy weekend.

The victory-fest started on Friday when 14-year-old Faizan Ahmed travelled to Charnock Richard’s Camelot complex to take on Chorley ABC boy Brendon Alexander in the 40k category. Ahmed out-boxed his opponent to seal a unanimous points decision.

Rising stars Muhammad Ali and Sahir Iqbal, both aged 16, travelled to Motherwell to represent England in a Three Nations clash also involving Scotland and Wales.

Ali overcame Scotland fighter Ryan Mullen 8-7 on points before beating his fellow countryman Calvin McOrd 19-5 in the final at 48k.

There was similar success for Iqbal in the 57k class, as he beat Ukasnir Farooq 6-5 of Scotland before defeating Wales contender Ryan Griffiths 9-3 the following day.

Ali and Iqbal have now been picked to box for England in the European Championships in Bulgaria which runs from June 23 to July 1. Ali also travels to France at the weekend for another international clash for England.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Ibrahim Nadim beat his opponent J Reynolds of host club Spire ABC with a unanimous points decision in their bout at Chesterfield Leisure Centre at 34k.

Sarah Dunne, aged 23, won her fight at 60k against Spire ABC’s J Poxon, also unanimously.
