WALMER’S successful season continued this week with Lisa Morley and Gail Blackburn winning the Ladies Handicap title at the Bolton Tennis Championships.
It follows on from the success of the club’s junior team, who won BSF Junior League Division Three.
Elsewhere, the Men's A team worked hard to take a point from Lostock B and hold on to third position in Division Two.
Phil Mansfield and Paul Biggins won sets 6-1, 7-5 and Rick Morley and Mike Davies added sets of 6-2, 6-6. Adam Goodie and Mark Booth scored 1-6, 2-6, but recovered to win 6-1 to help Walmer to a vital point.
The Men’s C team started well at home to Roe Green A, racing into a 4-1 lead.
John Biggins and David Worsley, and Keith Fairhurst and Adam Simpson each won two sets.
Mike Booth and Bruce Hardman lost three sets and, with two sets to play, Walmer needed just one to win.
Biggins and Worsley lost 6-1 and Fairhurst and Simpson went to a set point before losing 5-7 to see the visitors take the points in the relegation battle.
