TRANSFORMING Lancashire County League side Woodbank into a force to be reckoned with is a family affair for professional Steve Dearden.

The 43-year-old all-rounder is something of a task master when it comes to the batting performances of his 14-year-old son Harry, who is also in the side.

“He’s doing okay, but not great,” said Dearden of the lad whose highest score so far was a gutsy 39 until he ran himself out at Glossop.

“He’s not doing as well as we expected, but he plays for Lancashire Under-15s a year ahead of himself and we have been to Harrogate for trials with the North of England squad, so there’s no problem.”
