AMIR Khan is ready to go the distance against Ryan Barrett on Saturday.
As the Bolton superstar put the finishing touches to his preparations for his ninth professional fight at Bolton Arena, Khan said he was happy if the fight went the full six rounds.
He said: "I hope the fight goes on a bit longer because I need all the experience I can get.
"But as a boxer you are always mentally prepared to finish off your opponent and if I get in a good shot I will be happy to finish him off."
A full-house and a television audience of millions will be looking on to see if Khan can make another lasting impression in what will be his final six-round bout.
The 19-year-old Olympic silver medallist looked lean and mean as he was put through his paces by trainer Oliver Harrison at his gym in Salford yesterday.
"I can't wait to get into the ring," he added. "It seems a while since I last fought in Cardiff. I have had a good little break.
"For every fight I feel stronger and bigger in the frame.
"I am fighting a southpaw and although I didn't know my opponent until recently, I knew he would be southpaw. I have changed my technique to deal with that and had southpaw sparring partners.
Barrett is more of a boxer than a fighter who looks to picks his punches.
"I want to go up to eight rounds now as I feel I am ready.
"I didn't think that was the case two fights ago but now I have trained hard and fight at a slower pace, with more control and thinking about the punches."
Tickets for the fight are still available. Ring Premier Consultancy 535332.
