BURY’S fine form continued as they recorded their third victory in a row against Burnley.
The main contributory factor to Bury’s recent success has been achieved by exceptional play by the forwards.
The addition of Chris Potts on the flank has given the back row more punch, and the second-row pairing of his brother, Gerard, and Andrew Smith means Bury are winning ball in the set piece and also the rucks and mauls.
The three-quarter’s improvement has been boosted by the return of Harvey Leeming from a broken arm, while stand-off Ian Webb’s kicking, both from hand and penalties, has improved remarkably.
It was Webb who kicked Bury into the lead before the hosts stretched their lead when scrum half Matt Boyd linked with Webb to send Leeming over.
The lively Chris Potts then touched down in the right corner for an unconverted try. Bury saved the best for the last with a spell of broken play just outside the opposition 22. Gerard Potts broke from the loose before the ball was switched to the left and the ever alert Jon Allen went over in the left corner. Webb added the extras.
