FORMER European light-middleweight champion Jamie Moore believes Bury’s Scott Quigg is the ‘real deal’.
The 21-year-old super-bantamweight is bidding for the first title of his career when he takes on Argentine Santiago Allione for the vacant WBA International title in his home town on Saturday evening.
And Moore is convinced the big-punching youngster, who has a 100 per cent record from 19 fights, can go all the way to the top.
“I have been told how good Scott Quigg is for some time,” said Moore. “I’d never had the chance to see him in action properly until his last fight against Gavin Reid in Bolton.
“I was very impressed to say the least. Quigg had not been past six rounds up until that point but, with Reid pushing him hard, though never really troubling him, it was a fight where we got to see a little more of what Scott was made of.
“He passed the test with flying colours, stopping his man in the ninth round and confirming what I had heard – that this kid is the real deal.
“He has all the attributes to make it to the very top. He has good balance, can go both backwards and forwards with ease, is as comfortable boxing on the back foot as he is on the front, and can really punch with both hands.”
