BURY have been plunged into danger of relegation from North Lancs League One by their latest defeat.
The home side opened their account after 10 minutes with a slick passing move to score in the corner.
Bury dominated the next 25 minutes to the surprise of both the home side and their spectators and they scored when scrum half Rick Freeman went blind, dummied the centre and Robinson scored a try, which he converted himself.
The home side regained the lead 10 minutes later with a crossfield move, scoring in the corner, again unconverted.
Hard words must have been said at the interval by the home side’s coach, as Littleborough, realising that Bury were no pushovers, stepped up a gear.
They scored seven tries in the second period, three of which were converted. The low conversion rate is indicative of their style of play, which is to suck the defence into the ruck and maul releasing the three quarters which means most of the tries came on the wings.
Bury could not maintain the good play of the first half due, in some cases, to a lack of basic fitness.
Bury are now in the invidious position of entering what potentially could be the relegation zone. It has not been decided yet by the league organisers how many teams will be demoted from the league, but Bury sit precariously third from bottom.
To avoid the drop they need to win their next two matches against Birchfield from Widnes (kick off 3pm) on Saturday and Tarleton.
