SIX Radcliffe AC runners competed in the popular Salford 10k on Good Friday with one taking an age category prize.
Eileen Royle was first vet 60, clocking 51mins 55secs.
Only the week before she had been first in her age group when she joined two other club members in the tough Coniston 14 road race.
Royle recorded a time of 2hrs 31mins 32secs. Kath Davies (V45) clocked 2. 29. 20 and Angela Bell ran 2.54.37.
In the Salford two-lap event, Rob Shiels was first home among the Radcliffe group in a fine time of 39.18, coming 128th out of 569 runners, followed by Steve Hamer who was 11th vet 50 in 43.20; Vince Ashton ran 46.47; Sheila Jones was ninth vet 50 in 53.50 and Melanie Ridgewell clocked 57.24.
The event was part of Radcliffe’s own fast and furious club road championship, which will be based on the best results in seven races from 11.
Also on the road Donna Cartwright was fourth woman in the Colin and Brenda Robinson 5k at Littleborough, Rochdale, when she ran 20. 52.
On the hills, three ran the five-mile Harry Aspinall Liver Hill Fell Race at Rawtenstall. George Critchley (V50) clocked 54mins 55secs, John Young (Vet 60) 55. 03 and an improving Mark Murphy 55.10.
