A second-half strike from Ben Deegan was enough to see FC United through to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at North Ferriby on Saturday.
The Rebels weathered an early storm to see off a spirited Ferriby performance with Deegan pouncing from six-yards out in the 66th minute after good work down the left wing by Jerome Wright.
Karl Marginson’s side’s reward for defeating their UniBond Premier League rivals is a home draw against Blue Square North’s Stalybridge Celtic at Gigg Lane on Sunday, October 11. But FC must first take on Stocksbridge Park Steels on Saturday followed by Nantwich as they look to boost their flagging league form after taking just one point from a possible 12.
