BURY boss Alan Knill is desperately seeking some home comfort.
The Shakers have yet to win at home this season after losing five games in a row at Gigg Lane.
In stark contrast, Knill’s side have been excellent on their travels — winning three out of four league matches on the road including the weekend’s 1-0 success at Port Vale.
Now the manager has urged his players to turn their away form into points on home soil — starting with Lincoln City on Saturday.
“We just need that bit of luck,” he said. “Away from home we’ve had it and we had that bit of luck again against Port Vale with the goal.
“At home we’ve hit the post, hit the bar and, when it could’ve gone in, it hasn’t.
“But we’ve also shot ourselves in the foot at times and conceded goals when we shouldn’t have.
“It’s frustrating for the players more than anything because, if you take out the Accrington performance, we’ve played okay.
“Our away form has been good — now we need to turn that into points at home.”
And Knill hopes his strikers can fire the Shakers to victory after Ryan Lowe’s deflected goal ended their six-game drought at the weekend.
“I’m sure they will start converting the chances because their records speak for themselves,” added Knill, who takes his side to Crewe on Tuesday night.
“I can’t fault their effort and they just need to keep believing.”
Knill will have Andy Morrell available after the forward return to training this week after an ankle injury.
But he will be without Ryan Cresswell after the young centre-back was sent off at Vale Park.
The 21-year-old was in superb form before receiving his marching orders late on for a second bookable offence and will now miss the visit of Lincoln with a one-match ban.
The Gigg Lane chief said: “It will be a blow because he’s done well and taken his chance after coming back into the side.
“The second one was a booking but the first was very harsh, but the good thing is we have a ready-made replacement in Ben Futcher to come in.”
