BURY manager Alan Knill has slammed striker Domaine Rouse after another breach of club discipline saw the youngster dropped from the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Grimsby.

The 20-year-old striker, who has been blighted by off-field problems since graduating from the club’s youth system in 2007, was guilty of more misdemeanours late last week.

It was an unforgivable act in the eyes of Knill, who had given the Manchester-born player every chance to redeem himself after a series of indiscretions in the past.

Rouse started last week’s 3-1 victory over Hereford and his performance suggested he was in line to keep his shirt for the clash with the Mariners.

However, he blew his opportunity and Knill was left furious at seeing his faith rewarded with more poor behaviour.

“He did really well on Tuesday but it’s the bit between then and Saturday that wasn’t good,” said Knill. “It takes a lot more than talent to be a footballer and we had to make the decision because of his lack of discipline.

“I can’t do anymore and I have done everything I possibly could for him — helped him, pushed him, booted him and backed him.

“We put him in the team on Tuesday, when we could have changed our shape, and he did really well. But, since then, he has been a waste of time.” the Shakers manager added: “We’ve got a real close group of players that do everything that’s asked of them.

“Domaine’s kind of done his own thing and decided that’s the way he wants to go, but that’s not the way the team goes.

“It is very frustrating because we’ve really backed him and helped him when others would have — with some of the stuff that’s happened here — launched him out of the club a long time ago.”
