Radcliffe AC’s Anna Lupton is keeping up her superb form racing abroad with a sixth place among the top women in the best mountain race in the world in Switzerland.

Lupton took her high placing in the 31km Sierre Zinal in the Valais Alps at the weekend. She has been racing in Switzerland since being selected as part of England’s three-strong team for the World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge in Austria.

The event, which takes place on October 10, is purely an uphill race known as the Tour de Tyrol-Kaisermarathon and covers 42km uphill.

With his feet firmly on the local hills, Mark Cartwright (V40) took on the tough 4.5 mile Whittle Pike Fell Race from Cowpe in Rossendale and clocked 57.24.

His wife, Donna, was second woman and 11th overall when she competed in the Sylvia Diggle Memorial Healey Dash in Rochdale.
