Lancashire have released Australia batsman Brad Hodge from the remainder of his contract for personal reasons.
Hodge has requested to stay in Australia to look after his wife Meg - who has been ill for a long period - and son.
Former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent, who has been deputising for the 33-year-old, will remain with the club for the rest of the season.
Lancashire chief executive Jim Cumbes said: “Everyone associated with the club wishes Meg a speedy return to good health and would like to thank Brad for his invaluable contribution over the past four years.”
Hodge has been away from Old Trafford since April, when he was given permission to play in the Indian Premier League. He was subsequently called up by Australia for the tour of the West Indies.
Hodge first joined Lancashire in 2005 after a successful stint as overseas player at Leicestershire.
