Fresh from his Bury 10k achievements two weeks earlier, Steven Fawcett was once again first home for Radcliffe at the Worsley Woods 5 Mile Trail Race at the weekend.

Fawcett completed the mixed-terrain trail race, which is part of the Central Lancs Grand Prix, in a time of 32mins 19secs, coming 10th overall and second in his age category (V45). Second for Radcliffe, and an incredible first in his age category (V60), was Michael Kontowtt, in 34:39.

During midweek it was the penultimate round of the Run The Moors fell race league, with the 5 Trigs Fell Race.

Radcliffe AC had four runners taking on the 29-kilometre challenge that includes 914 metres of climbing, and no fewer than 5 trig point ascents. First back into the valley for Radcliffe was Ian Swan, in 3:15:19, followed by Mark Garner (3:46:13), Christopher Mihalyi (3:51:24) and Kathryn Davies (4:14:32).

Aside from the team efforts, there was a series of solo adventures for RAC athletes during the week.

Scott Rosevere completed the Lakeland Trails 18km trail race at Cartmel in 2:03:07, Paul Stevens raced the Run Media City 5K in 24:16, and Kath Biddle ran the Tower to Castle 30-mile ultramarathon in 6:16:31 - a race from Blackpool tower to Lancaster castle along coastal, trail paths and fields with a unique ferry crossing at the ninth mile.
