There was a flurry of wins for the ladies of Radcliffe AC last week at the Yarrow Valley River Splash 10K.

Paula Abernethy won first place in her age category (FV55) with a time of 1hr 6mins 35secs, Kathryn Davies was first LV60 in 1:06:58, and Sheila Jones was first LV65 in 1:20:41. Karen Doherty’s time of 1:08:24 meant her, Abernethy and Davies took the overall first-place ladies’ team prize.

Also racing the technical riverside trails of Yarrow Valley for Radcliffe were Dominic Parry (1:02:42), Peter Warr (1:12:46), Elaine Bailey (1:23:04), Tracy Wroe (1:24:51), Mike Scott (1:36:45), Sara Parry (1:45:38), and Andy Wheeler (1:48:37).

In another win for Radcliffe ladies last week, Donna Cartwright was third overall female and first LV45 in the Hades Hill Fell Race. She completed the 8km rollercoaster of a race, which includes the three summits of Brown Wardle, Middle Hill, and Hades Hill, in an excellent time of 48:40.

Three Radcliffe athletes took on the Lakeland Trails Keswick 15k at the weekend in unusually warm September weather. Scott Rosevere was first across the line for Radcliffe in 1:57:42, with Karen Wells and Jules Davies following together in 2:09:22.

Ian Swan raced the hottest Ben Nevis Race on record last week, running up and down Britain’s highest mountain in a total time of 3:16:00.

Radcliffe had two representatives at the Vale of York Half Marathon with Andrew O’Donnell running a new personal best in a time of 1:30:13, and Ryan Hallworth with a brilliant time of 1:26:22.

Elsewhere, Adam Wills ran the Cheshire Half Marathon at Capesthorne Hall in 1:42:07, and Bev Quinton completed the Great North Run half-marathon in 2:49:52, despite running with a trapped nerve.
